In the Service Operations Centre (SOC) you’ll support IT services for Government departments in the UK and around the globe.
 
You’ll bring your technical expertise to deploy and maintain systems that help protect national security at home and overseas. You may not know all of the details yet, but you soon will.

No two days will be the same, one day you could be designing an exciting new website for a customer, the next you could be working with one of our site owners to better promote an existing site. This is an opportunity that will ensure you’re at the forefront of Government wide communication and collaboration.

More About You

You’ll already have:

• Experience of building websites using a CMS
• Knowledge of website design
• Understanding of web technologies including HTML and CSS
• IT troubleshooting experience

To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you have one or more of the following (but these are not essential):

• Development experience of PHP and JavaScript frameworks and libraries, such as React and Angular JS
• Experience of using Photoshop or Illustrator
• Experience of diagnosing problems with websites
• Knowledge of website accessibility best practices and user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design
• An interest in, and knowledge of new web technologies

Putting your skills to use

Using your expertise as part of our team you will:

• Build and maintain websites
• Speak to customers to understand their requirements
• Advising on UI and UX design
• Creating mock-ups for customer as proof-of-concept
• Working with the Web Content Manager and customers to produce finished websites
• Preparing websites for go-live
• Provide ongoing technical support
• Ensuring websites meet latest accessibility standards
• Instilling best practice for website design in the department
• Writing and maintaining relevant documentation, such as high and low-level designs.
