HMGCC has an exciting opportunity for a HR Advisor - Employee Relations to join our internal HR team, supporting the team to deliver efficient advice on HMGCC people policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment law and good practice, dealing with complex people issues. Building relationships is integral part of this role and you may be expected to travel to customers within the UK.


Technical Skills

We would need you to already have:

• General HR experience with an ability to interpret and apply HR policies - Ideally operating at HR Advisor or ER Advisor level
• Knowledge of Employment Law, managing complex and sensitive ER issues
• Demonstrable Employee Relations experience including case management of grievance, sickness absence and performance issues
• Strong customer service skills
• Very well organised on time management with good attention to detail
• Strong verbal and communication skills

To strengthen your application, it would be desirable if you have:

• Ideally you will be either CIPD qualified, or demonstrate an equivalent level experience with solid HR background
• Ability to independently run investigations


Personal Skills

To work as an Employee Relations Advisor, you will be the type of person who:

1. Advises managers on people policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment law and good practice.
2. Identify emerging people issues within the organisation, and work with managers to develop appropriate solutions.
3. Manage complex people issues (grievance, disciplinary, and capability) to achieve a successful resolution for the business, working with managers to increase their understanding and confidence.
4. Build and sustain relationships with key individuals.
5. Manage projects within the Annual Operating Plan ensuring delivery to time and quality.


Putting Your Skills To Use
 
Using your expertise as part of our team you will:

1. Develop a deep understanding of the business and HR current strategic priorities to ensure that HR advice directly support business needs.
2. Ensure all cases are managed in accordance with policy and procedure, including all associated documentation.
3. Advise line managers in respect of grievance, disciplinary, sickness absence and support the process of managing short and long term sickness.
4. Supporting appropriate training to enable line managers to proactively manage issues and develop their ER Skills.

Work with HR colleagues to develop a comprehensive and effective HR service to the business.
