HMGCC's IT Service Operations Centre has been incredibly successful 'insourcing' Government IT, leading to growth and service expansion. We now have a great opportunity for a keen individual looking to develop as an IT systems engineer. Development is core to this role and we're looking for someone with the right approach and aptitude.

We provide secure IT shared services to a large number of Government departments, bringing great cost efficiency, but also agility, quality and cyber security. Liaising closely with the Web Content Manager will be a critical part of your day-to-day working; the Web Content Manager is the primary contact for all customer relations. Working in a small team allows you to be agile with your delivery of work as well as being process driven at times when structured tasks need completing.

Technical Skills

We would need you to already have:

• An understanding of Web technologies, for example HTML, CSS
• IT troubleshooting experience

To strengthen your application, it would be desirable if you have:

• Development experience with:
  - JavaScript
  - jQuery
• Experience of working with or understanding of:
  - Drupal or another (content management system) CMS
  - Knowledge of Website accessibility best practices
  - A basic understanding of Photoshop/Illustrator
• Ability to diagnose problems / issues with Websites

Using your expertise as part of our team you will:

• Create and contribute to the development of new Websites
• Learn and adopt existing technical services to address related customer issues
• Provide maintenance support and respond to customer service requests
• Build, test and implement minor systems enhancements
• Create and revise procedural and configuration documentation
• Engage with customers at all stages of the development process
• Support customers with tailored training based on individual needs
• Offer guidance to customers about best practices
