This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.

You'll use your architectural skills to interpret business needs and requirements to develop solutions to improve delivery to your customers. You'll enjoy providing specialist support for large-scale IT services within the UK Government as well as providing regular road map updates to stakeholders.

Your interest in improving the sharing and development of information will be crucial to ensuring the Government's communication systems are reliable and totally secure. Both your analytical and communication skills will benefit you in this position to engage with your customers.

More about you

You will already have:

• Experience in creating and maintaining roadmaps/strategies
• Experience creating solution architecture documentation
• Practical experience of reviewing and overseeing major system designs, decisions and project planning

To strengthen your application, you will also have one or more of the following:

• Working knowledge of enterprise virtualisation and storage
• Practical experience with Public Key Infrastructure {PKI)
• Proven experience in task automation

Putting your skills to use

Using your expertise as part of our team you will:

Be responsible for the strategy and design of enterprise ICT architecture:
  o Maintaining a vision and roadmap for all enterprise ICT services.
  o Liaising with department and supplier subject matter experts, guiding system design to align with the overarching technical vision.
  o Document major changes and regular roadmap updates suitable for all stakeholders, presenting to all appropriate audiences.
  o Ensuring reuse of architectural components and alignment of technology and approach.
  o Accounting for through-life system consideration; transfer-to-operation, functional and non-functional in-life requirements (including performance, reliability, availability adaptability, interoperability and maintainability), replacement and decommissioning.
  o Reviewing and overseeing major system designs, decisions and project planning.
  o Chairing regular system design review meetings.

• Actively maintaining technology awareness within the department, recommending adoption and sharing their potential as appropriate; carefully keeping the department up-to-date and relevant.
• Leading system security design and accreditation; leading relationships with both the accreditors and CESG for IT Health Checks and Design Reviews.
• Attending and assisting with requirements capture and feedback sessions.
• Providing advice and guidance, especially to a non-technical audience on major system problems, outages as well as programme/project planning.
• Providing input to SLA design and funding considerations.
