Estates Manager (Hard Services) Ref. 918
This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, open to flexible, compressed and part time working patterns.

Your leadership skills together with your extensive knowledge and experience of building services will enable you to support your team, maintain and improve the facilities and infrastructure for the site’s multiple buildings.
You and your team will work across our diverse and interesting campus with many technical facilities, which includes manufacturing workshops, engineering laboratories, screened room, clean rooms, server rooms and offices. The campus has a range of buildings from ones being constructed now to others around 50 years old with varying types of building infrastructure.
You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where most days will be different as you oversee the multi skilled team and their contractors delivering everything from Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to new facilities. Your expertise and recommendations will be crucial in maintaining our infrastructure, enhancing our estate and shaping our future buildings. It’s an exciting time to join the team as continues to grow, along with increasing facilities and buildings within the campus.
You will join a small supportive team where professional development and training is available and encouraged for both technical and core skills. These courses include externally recognised CIBSE courses as well as sessions hosted in house.
More About You
To apply for this role, you’ll already have,
- A proven background and professional qualification in Building Services or Facilities Management or relevant experience.
- Experience of managing conflicting priorities on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of legal and statutory compliance obligations.
To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you have one of more of the following (although these are not essential),
- Experience of leading and developing others.
- Experience of managing Facilities Management contracts.
- Experience of championing Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.

Putting your skills to use
Using your diverse range of skills within the Estates team, you will,
- Lead, develop, manage, and motivate the Estates team. Through mentoring and coaching provide technical support to the team to develop their skills.
- Work collectively within the team to ensure the site is safe and legally compliant.
- Ensure that all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) is carried out to appropriate and agreed standards.
- Ensure all Estates work is carried out effectively and safely.
- Provide knowledge and expertise to advise on new works and site enhancements.
- Manage all Estates Contracts to maintain standards and ensure value for money.
- Contribute to the strategy and future direction of the team and the Estate.
- Share in the on-call rota, typically for up to a week each month.
