Are you looking for your next step in Mechanical Engineering? Do you want to utilise a wide range of state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to produce high impact products to help keep our nation safe?



As a Mechanical Engineer specialising in either design or manufacture, you’ll bring your experience of disciplines such as Sheet metal fabrication, Manual machining, CNC Milling &Turning, Wire EDM and Computer Aided Design (CAD) to do just that and you’ll receive all the support you need to develop your skills even further.

You’ll work closely with other teams, taking full advantage of our well-equipped facility to produce bespoke products from technical drawings, 3D models or written/ verbal instruction.

So whether you enjoy visualising how it’s going to work and coming up with the design or you prefer being hands on bringing the product to life, your role will be crucial in helping us create innovative products that make a real difference.

 This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week Monday to Friday


More About You

You will have already have:

  • A mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of common engineering materials.
  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques.
  • A high level of IT competency.

 

For the Mechanical Manufacture Engineer role, you may also have experience in some of the following:

  • Mechanical assembly and fitting experience.
  • Manual machining skills and experience.
  • Programming experience with CNC machinery.
  • Low Volume part production.
  • Toolroom experience – Mould making, Press tools, Jigs and Fixtures etc.
  • Welding, MIG, TIG, ARC.
  • Brazing and Soldering.
  • Assembly techniques.
  • Knowledge of CAM software.

 

For the Mechanical Design Engineer role, you may also have experience in some of the following

  • Product design skills.
  • The production of Technical drawings using a CAD package.
  • Knowledge of CAD software.

 Putting your skills to use

Using your expertise, if part of our manufacturing team you will:

  • Produce low quantity parts to fine tolerances using a range of manual and CNC machines. Working from 2D technical drawings and CAD.
  • Work directly with the customers to understand requirements and produce bespoke solutions to meet their needs.
  • Provide a prototyping service for the design community working from written or verbal instruction to modify parts and trial ideas to overcome problems.
  • Complete complex assemblies of components to a high standard ensuring quality throughout.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the products you produce are to the required quality and timescale while supporting your team with peer-to-peer inspection.

Using your expertise, if part of our design team you will:

  • Design and develop solutions to address our customers’ needs.
  • Produce an appropriate level of design documentation taking into account through life requirements.
  • Produce as-built documentation to allow products and deployments to be supported.
  • Ensure that designs and associated documentation are peer reviewed.
  • Contribute to continued development of technology and engineering
