HMGCC has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Finishing Engineer to join our growing team in our new manufacturing facility. You will have the opportunity   to work with the latest technology and manufacturing equipment producing unique prototype and low volume components.

What makes HMGCC different is that you'll get involved in the whole process, defining sequence of operations, preparing parts for finishing. You'll use your skill and experience to create a wide range of components whilst working with a variety of customers and design engineers.

Technical Skills

We would need you to already have:

  • A recognised apprenticeship in painting and finishing or relevant experience.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of Aquabase and/or two Pack Spray finishing.
  • Skills and experience of Powder coating.
  • Experience of working with a range of different substrates including Metals, Plastics, Rapid Prototypes.
  • A good in depth knowledge of part preparation for coating including cleaning, masking and Jigging.
  • Good computer skills and competency in basic MS Office applications.

To strengthen your application it would be desirable if you have:

  • ONC or higher qualifications in mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of Colour matching using spectrophotometers
  • Experience with Hydrographic's
  • Experience with wood finishing.
  • A range of additional complementary skills, such as shot blasting, Disk finishing and Polishing

Putting Your Skills To Use

Using your diverse range of craft skills within the Finishing Team you will:

  • Prepare high quality parts for finishing working from Raw part through to final completion of components from a range of different  processes including 3d printed, CNC machined and Fabricated
  • Work closely with customers and onsite engineers to provide creative manufacturing solutions.
  • Work on your own initiative to decide how you are going to finish a product, whilst working through all stages as required to prepare and finish the components.
  • Be responsible for the quality of your  work  and work in accordance with procedures, policies and responsibilities common across HMGCC.
  • Be willing to work (paid) overtime when required
  • Follows Health and Safety best practice, with a desire to make improvements through Lean and continuous improvement
